According to The Straits Times, Oracle plans to provide free AI training to over 10,000 professionals and students in Singapore over the course of three years. This is in line with the city-state’s goal of tripling its pool of AI talent to 15,000 within five years.
Free introductory instruction in artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, cybersecurity, and data management will be given to participants by Oracle University.
For a price, additional professional training and certificates will be offered.
To support this AI training endeavor, the tech giant intends to open its second data center in Singapore by July. Oracle is a well-known competitor in the market for cloud computing services thanks to its affordable prices.
Oracle’s CEO, Safra Catz, attributes a lot of the company’s success in artificial intelligence and cloud computing to its knowledge of database administration and its commitment to data protection and sovereignty.
Over the last fifteen years, Oracle has supported internship and apprenticeship programs in Singapore’s polytechnics, contributing to the advancement of computer science education in that nation.
Additionally, Singapore is becoming known as a center for AI development, drawing projects related to AI from businesses like ByteDance, Google, and Nvidia.
The sovereign wealth fund of the city-state, Temasek, is rumored to be considering investing in ChatGPT creator OpenAI.
