That the EV segment in India is starting to gather traction is not news. After all, this is why we have more and more automakers launching their electric vehicles in the country. The next company to add its name to the list of automakers with EVs in India will be Audi; yep, as we had reported previously, the four-ringed automaker will soon launch its e-tron all-electric SUV soon. Though the company still hasn’t shared an Audi e tron India launch date yet, we reckon the electric SUV will become available for retail here by next month. Our guess is that it won’t be too long now before the e SUV formally arrives in the domestic market, now that it has been spotted at a dealership. This indicates that the company has likely started the upcoming electric vehicle’s dispatches in preparation for the market launch. We expect a formal announcement with the date and such some time this month.
It may be interesting to note that the SUV will be offered across two body types; Audi India recently confirmed that e-Tron will be launched as both an SUV and a Sportback here. Audi e-Tron Sportback is the coupe-SUV version of e-Tron and will be more expensive as compared to the SUV iteration.
Audi e-Tron SUV as well as the Sportback model make use of two electric motors, one for each axle, and a 95 kWh battery pack. This powertrain set up delivers a maximum power output of 330 bhp and 561 Nm of peak torque in standard mode. However, in Sport, the total performance output goes up to 396.5 bhp and 664 Nm of maximum torque. Both vehicles also get all-wheel-drive system as standard, by the way. Audie-Tron SUV and e-Tron Sportback’s charging time is claimed to be around 10 hours for a 100 per cent charge with a 9.6 kW charger. With a 150 kW fast charger, on the other hand, the battery can be charged up to 80 per cent in roughly 30 minutes. Oh, and Audi e-Tron’s driving range is claimed to be over 400 km on a single charge.
