In the last couple of years, WhatsApp has released a tonne of chatbots to make it simpler to access services like COVID information, JioMart purchasing, and more. We now have a new chatbot that will let consumers book Bengaluru metro tickets to add to this. Here are the steps you need to do.
Now using WhatsApp to purchase Namma Metro tickets
The new chatbot-based QR ticketing solution for the Namma Metro is made possible thanks to a partnership between WhatsApp and Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL). As the first company to do so, BMRCL has now officially launched an end-to-end QR ticketing service on WhatsApp.
Through the chatbot, which is powered by Yellow.AI, users will be able to purchase tickets, learn about metro schedules, and more via WhatsApp.
The service is offered in English and Kannada and utilises WhatsApp’s standard chatbot interface. Simply say “Hi” to the BMRCL’s official WhatsApp chatbot at +9181055 56677 to get the list of services that are offered. You can check the Metro Rail timetable, purchase a ticket, or recharge your smart card.
If you buy a ticket, you will receive a QR code that you must scan at the terminal in order to enter and exit quickly. Due to the service’s integration with WhatsApp Pay, paying for purchases made using UPI is made simple.
According to Abhijit Bose, Head of WhatsApp India, “BMRCL’s QR ticketing service on WhatsApp would make travel and purchasing Metro tickets for Bengaluru residents exceedingly simple and convenient. This is just another outstanding illustration of how businesses from different industries, ranging from the biggest transportation service to the smallest retail establishment, can improve their customers’ experiences by utilising the WhatsApp Platform.
It is unknown if and when this will arrive in the Delhi Metro. What do you think about the new WhatsApp feature that allows you to purchase metro tickets? If you decide to use it, please share your ideas and experience in the comments section below.
