Recently, a traffic control system driven by AI was introduced at Merces junction. The technology has the ability to assist state authorities with challan issuance, signal control, and security. The system detects offences automatically and sends an e-challan to the offender’s home.
According to Goa’s Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, this is the state’s first AI-enhanced signal. He claimed that by monitoring traffic and assisting with security, the technology will also help traffic cops.
16 intelligent signals will be used in Goa to control traffic. The number of significant accidents in the city will be reduced. The system will also be used to monitor the movement of undesirable individuals. The CM declared that moving forward, all arrests would be made using the AI.
Beltech AI created and installed the system, which was then PPP-deployed at the Merces crossroads. Goa will collaborate with private investment to broaden the implementation’s PPP base. The state government received free installation of the signals. The company has invested Rs 40 lakh, and revenue would be split 70:30.
CM also cautioned people against breaching the law or enforcing their own personal laws. The system’s installation has started, but according to transport minister Mauvin Godingo, the process of challenging issues would be finished by April 15.
With the AI technology, there will not be any room for human error or bias on the part of the RTO or traffic police. If someone breaks the traffic laws, there will be real-time images.
AI technology, according to PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral, is far more advanced than conventional technology. As a result, more places will be selected within the following 15 years for PPP-based AI road monitoring.
