AI has reportedly been utilized by certain Japanese academics to comprehend the noises and clucks made by chickens.
This remarkable achievement has been documented in a preprint that has not yet been subjected to peer review. The scientists assert that they have developed a system that can recognize the different feelings that hens experience. This involves the birds experiencing emotions such as fear, hunger, excitement, happiness, and distress.
The University of Tokyo’s Adrian David Cheok claims that the system is built on an AI technique known as “Deep Emotional Analysis Learning.”
The team claims that its method is based on complex mathematical procedures. Furthermore, they imply that this technology is capable of adapting to the changing vocalizations of hens. Essentially, they predict that with time, the tool will get better at distinguishing between chicken sounds.

The researchers recorded and examined samples from eighty chickens in order to test their approach. The algorithm that was in charge of connecting the birds’ different emotional states with their vocal patterns was then applied to these data.
The research team collaborated with eight animal psychologists and veterinarian surgeons. Together, they were able to ascertain the chickens’ emotional condition with accuracy.
These experiments show how AI and machine learning may be used to recognize the emotions of chickens based only on their sounds.
