Rajeev Chandrasekhar discussed the value and development of AI in India during an exclusive interview with The Week magazine, MoS Electronics, and IT. He claimed that AI had progressed from simple neural networks to complex AGI learning models. He claims that ChatGPT is a tool that is rapidly and in a variety of ways expanding. This AI is predicted to upend a number of established technologies, particularly in the commercial world. The Narendra Modi administration’s Digital India Bhashini platform, he noted, may drastically disrupt the field of content creation using AI and automatic natural language translation.
“I have said that the digital economy and technological innovation will be kinetically enabled by AI. Furthermore, it will significantly enhance digital government and governance. The minister stated that AI can and will play a transformative role in governance, improving the design and efficacy of government programs from bridging the digital divide to civic delivery in a more effective way.
The minister announced that under IndiaAI, the government would establish three centers of excellence for artificial intelligence as well as the India Datasets Program, the largest program for publicly available datasets. The datasets show that India’s consumers represent a significant market for the upcoming AI and machine learning algorithms, with an estimated opportunity of $200 to $500 billion if properly tapped. He claims that while AI academics can look at technological answers, the government can use it to develop better-targeted policies.
The next generation of governance, healthcare, agriculture, and innovation will be more impactful, efficient, targeted, and have longer-lasting effects thanks to India, in his opinion, which will become a global leader in the field. He stated that the fact that our nation is currently serving as the GPAI’s chair is proof of India’s leadership in this important field. According to a recent NASSCOM report on the state of data science and artificial intelligence skills in India, our nation is first in terms of talent concentration and AI skill penetration, and fifth in terms of AI scientific publications.
The highest among G20 and OECD nations, India’s AI skills penetration factor was reported at 3.09, according to research. Specifically in the fields of conversational AI, NLP, video analytics, disease detection, fraud prevention, and deep fakes, more than 1,900 AI-focused start-ups are fostering innovation in the nation, the minister stated.
The minister continued, “The government wants to catalyze this sector; as a result, along with the India Datasets Program, we will also be launching a comprehensive program called the IndiaAI. You will see AI deeply embedded and layered on the India stack, including Aadhaar, Unified Payments Interface (UPI), DigiLocker, Cowin, and more.
