The most recent research suggests that Brazil is likely to emerge victorious at the FIFA World Cup 2022, which will be played in Qatar.
Machine Learning (ML) techniques have been used to make the forecast, and according to those algorithms, Brazil has a probability of 20.9% to win the FIFA World Cup. According to the reports, Argentina has the second highest likelihood of claiming the title of World Cup champion (14.3 per cent).
DataLab, the innovation laboratory of Serasa Experian, was the one in charge of carrying out the research. They used a machine learning model that they had developed using data from the previous three iterations of the World Cup in football. DataLab developed a machine learning system that makes predictions on the likelihood of the outcome of each match between two countries by employing algorithms that are analogous to those utilised by streaming platforms in the process of recommending shows to customers.
The machine learning-based research was released at the same time that Brazil was cruising to a 2-0 victory over Serbia late on Thursday in its opening World Cup match. Richarlison, a forward for Tottenham Hotspur, scored twice for Brazil during the second half of their encounter against their opponent after the first half of the game ended scoreless.
According to the ML-based study, France (11.4%) has the third greatest probability to win the World Cup, which puts them ahead of Spain (9%) and Germany (6%). Brazil and Argentina have the highest probability of winning the tournament (3.4 per cent).
According to the findings of the research based on machine learning (ML), Brazil from Group G has the highest possibility of advancing to the knockout stages of the World Cup, in addition to Argentina in Group C, France in Group D, and Spain from Group E – surpassing Germany in this regard.
