In the past seven years, India’s number of LinkedIn accounts listing talents in artificial intelligence has surged 14 times, according to a recent analysis by LinkedIn. This puts India among the top five nations in the world for developing expertise in the field.
According to LinkedIn’s first Future of Work: State of Work @ AI report, the countries with the quickest adoption rates for AI capabilities are India, Singapore, Finland, Ireland, and Canada. It goes beyond technology to include a variety of sectors like education, finance, and retail services.
Approximately 43% of the Indian workforce has experienced the widespread deployment of AI in their firms during the past year. Around 60% of all workers and 71% of Gen Z professionals now believe that learning AI skills will improve their career chances as a result of the rise in AI adoption. In 2023, two out of every three Indians think they will acquire at least one digital talent, with AI and machine learning ranking as the top two.
According to the analysis, after the launch of ChatGPT, the proportion of LinkedIn users who added AI capabilities to their profiles doubled across 25 countries, going from 7.7% from May to November 2022 to 13% from November to June 2023. According to the report, in the age of AI, soft skills like creativity and communication are important in India. A higher percentage of senior executives—nearly 91%—than the global average of 72% acknowledged the growing importance of AI skills.
Additionally, the majority of Indian workers concur with the claim that 7 out of 10 professionals believe that soft skills like creativity and problem-solving help people have a better perspective on their jobs. Software developers, customer support agents, and salespeople are the top professions with skills that generative AI might bolster.
