AyurTech Centre of Excellence (CoE), sponsored by the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, has been launched at IIT Jodhpur. It combines Ayurveda and technology to create evidence-based solutions for personalised healthcare. an effort to use AI and data analytics to provide individual-centric healthcare at a reasonable price.
Friday saw the opening of the Ayush-funded CoE at the School of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, IIT Jodhpur, by Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, secretary, Ministry of Ayush.
He visited the campus to gain an understanding of how the institute operated before delivering an institute lecture on Ayurveda in the Digital Age: Harnessing Technology for Health and Wellness.
The first-of-its-kind AyurTech effort would merge electronic, digital health, artificial intelligence (AI), and multi-omics technologies to realise “evidence-based Ayurveda” solutions in a transdisciplinary framework.
The new CoE intends to create an AI-driven integrative framework for risk assessment of populations and individuals as well as early, effective precision health interventions.
IIT Jodhpur has donated a built-up area of about 3760 square feet for an AyurTech laboratory for phenotyping, molecular biology, chemistry, and device development, manufacture, and characterization.
The brand-new AyurTech centre for technological immersion will facilitate capacity building in many Ayurvedic fields, improve employability in the transdisciplinary field, offer chances for innovation and entrepreneurship, and support trans-disciplinary research initiatives.
I am honoured to open the AyurTech Centre of Excellence sponsored by the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, at IIT Jodhpur, stated Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Hon’ble Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, Government of India. The future of healthcare is “Ayurveda Vigyaan.” I applaud IIT Jodhpur for taking the initiative, and I hope that it will support scientists in creating homegrown innovations. I have no doubt that this centre will successfully complete a number of research initiatives in the coming years for the benefit of the general population.
The Ayush Ministry is investigating how combining AI with Ayurveda might benefit the healthcare system and the potential uses of AI in phytomedicine and Prakriti diagnosis.
