The government’s artificial intelligence (AI) language project, Bhashini, achieved a technological milestone when it was used to live-translate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address from Hindi to Tamil during the second Kashi Tamil Sangamam launch. The function was held at PM Modi’s Lok Sabha constituency, Namo Ghat in Varanasi, on Sunday evening.
Speaking to the attendees, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “Today, artificial intelligence (AI) has allowed for the use of new technology here.” I’m hoping that this fresh start would make it simpler for me to get in touch with you.
Bhashini, a division of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), uses artificial intelligence (AI) to create language-based technical solutions and linguistic datasets. The main goals of Bhashini, which was established in 2022 as a component of the National Language Translation Mission (NLTM), are to greatly improve Indian language material on the internet and create a National Public Digital Platform for languages.
In addition, PM Modi unveiled the Kashi Tamil Sangamam Express, a train service that will link Varanasi and Kanyakumari.
1,400 dignitaries from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry will be in attendance at the Kashi Tamil Sangamam, which is set to take place from December 17–31. According to an official release, their itinerary includes stops in Varanasi, Prayagraj, and Ayodhya.
A number of development projects, notably the second Vande Bharat train route that connects Varanasi and New Delhi, were inaugurated during PM Modi’s visit to Varanasi.
