Online community Reddit holds that conversational chatbots powered by artificial intelligence (AI), like ChatGPT and Bard, will “supplement” human relationship rather than replace it.
Reddit representative Nick Singer told the Verge that “AI chatbot technologies are still new and something we’re studying and keeping our eyes on.”
“However, genuine human connection and community will always be needed, and technologies like these can help with that. We observe chatbots being utilised in creative and entertaining ways to enhance human connection and community rather than to replace it “Singer continued.
Because conversing with conversational AI technologies, like ChatGPT, may be enjoyable, their popularity has soared.
But there are certain downsides to AI-assisted search, one of which is the potential for inaccurate information to be presented as reality, as Bard did in official Google marketing materials.
Contrarily, Reddit is commonly trusted since users are more inclined to upvote uplifting posts than unfavourable ones.
According to the study, Reddit is also investigating AI chatbot technology, so users may soon be able to converse with the online community to find content.
On Friday, the online discussion board acknowledged that a sophisticated and well-targeted phishing assault had led to the hacking of its servers.
The hacker was able to access some internal papers, code, business systems, and internal dashboards after successfully gaining one employee’s login credentials.
