A number of employment opportunities have emerged as a result of the development of generative artificial intelligence (AI), and according to a study by the job search website Indeed, there has been a 158% increase in job postings in this field in India over the past five years. According to the survey, job searches for generative AI and huge language models increased by over 89% in March 2023 compared to the same month in 2018.
The data is released at a time when rumours abound over the likelihood that occupations may be mechanised with the sudden appearance of AI. According to Goldman Sachs research, 26% of jobs at work in various industries may be automated. The generative AI has advanced capabilities in the creative and marketing industries, according to the Harvard Business Review. Nevertheless, according to the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Future of Jobs report, AI will give rise to important jobs like those for machine learning experts, scientists, data analysts, and digital transformation specialists.
“With a rising pool of talented AI workers, India has become a prominent player in the global AI ecosystem. It’s difficult to say whether India has the biggest talent pool for AI, but there is no doubting that the nation has advanced remarkably in this area. The strong focus on STEM education in India, which has helped develop a consistent stream of talented individuals in the tech industry, is one of the key factors influencing this rise. Additionally, India’s sizeable population offers a sizable talent pool from which to choose, according to Sashi Kumar, head of sales for Indeed India.
According to Indeed’s statistics, generative AI-related jobs are in high demand in India and talented workers are lured to working in this industry. However, as technology and AI advance, new obstacles have emerged, including the demand for qualified talent and the upskilling of the current workforce.
The survey also discovered a similar trend in job searches in other nations, such as Singapore, where job ads for AI positions have increased by 94.7% over the past five years and the US, where job postings for software developers have increased by 30%.
As the need for AI expertise grows, Kumar continued, “India has a chance to take advantage of its enormous talent pool and build a strong ecosystem for AI research and development.
