Three government agencies joined forces to form a synergy in order to deliver eMigrate services through Common Services Centers (CSCs) around the nation, taking into account the key challenges experienced by migrant workers during the emigration process. In order to provide the eMigrate services through CSCs, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), and CSC eGovernance Services India Limited have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a synergy between CSC SPV and MEA.
According to the announcement, the MoU was signed with the goal of expanding safe and legal migration channels, particularly to prevent dishonest people from taking advantage of Indian nationals looking for work overseas. The CSCs serve as front-end service delivery sites for providing individuals, particularly those living in rural and isolated sections of the nation, with digital services. According to government data, over 5.50 lakh CSCs are currently providing over 700 digital services to citizens in aided mode with increased simplicity and convenience.
The goal of the 2015-launched e-Migrate project is to make it easier for workers in the Emigration Check is Required (ECR) category to migrate to countries that have been alerted in order to find employment. This platform reduces the likelihood of malpractices and facilitates a seamless hiring procedure. As a fully digitalized B-2-B platform, the portal offers FEs (Foreign Employers) and RAs a contactless and paperless recruitment procedure.
Supporting blue-collar workers who are traveling to nations where an emigration check (ECR) is necessary is the aim of the eMigrate project. According to a Ministry of External Affairs document, the portal also offers a comprehensive online database of emigrants to Missions, RAs, FEs, and insurance agencies to speed up and streamline the emigration process. It also enables the authentication and verification of the credentials of all parties involved.
According to a Ministry of Electronics and IT announcement, the number of Indians seeking work overseas has been rising, and their remittance contributions have been substantial.
