Artificial intelligence is poised to become a significant factor in your romantic life, following cellphones and PCs. The dating app Bumble unveiled a new tool dubbed “Deception Detector” on Safer Internet Day. This function uses artificial intelligence (AI) to detect phony profiles.
According to Bumble, the new function is made to block spam, scams, and phony profiles before users even notice them. The company further stated that in the two months since it was put to use, members have noticed a 45% decrease in the amount of phony profiles.
Bumble’s data indicates that 46% of women who responded to the survey expressed concern about whether or not the persons they matched with were genuine. According to the study, the biggest worries of Indians are fraudulent activities and phony online personas, with 29% of participants expressing a desire to protect their personal information.
Bumble claims that Deception Detector, which was developed using a machine learning-based methodology, was able to block up to 95% of these accounts. It appears that the company offers a safer online dating experience by combining its AI-powered feature with human support. It did not, however, provide information about the operation of its deception detector.
A 35-year-old PhD candidate at the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)-IMTech said that she met someone on Bumble and ended up losing a total of Rs 98,500.
Bumble has launched a ton of new features in the past few months, like Private Detector, which detects and blurs nude photos using AI, and an AI-powered conversation starter for Bumble For Friends.
