In line with the deal, the businesses would “jointly experiment” with Azure OpenAI, enabling users to create chatbots and other artificial intelligence (AI) applications that are integrated with Microsoft’s Azure cloud computing platform.
Microsoft’s Copilot products will be tested by Coca-Cola, according to the company, “to see how the tools improve productivity.” Copilot is an AI assistant that can create slide decks for corporate presentations and summarize email exchanges.
The business will investigate genAI-powered digital assistants on Azure OpenAI Service to assist staff in enhancing consumer experiences, streamlining processes, encouraging innovation, gaining a competitive edge, increasing productivity, and discovering fresh prospects for expansion.
As part of the agreement, Coca-Cola will also employ more traditional Microsoft software, such as Dynamics 365, a collection of enterprise accounting and sales software tools.
Microsoft and Coca-Cola’s cooperation is “significant”
According to Microsoft Chief Commercial Officer Judson Althoff, “We have made significant progress to accelerate system-wide AI transformation across the Coca-Cola Company and its network of independent bottlers worldwide through our long-term partnership.” We are honored to stand behind Coca-Cola as it embraces the AI era and looks to programs like Copilot for Microsoft 365 and Azure OpenAI Service to spur innovation in all facets of its operations.
John Murphy, President & Chief Financial Officer of The Coca-Cola Company, stated, “This new agreement builds on the success of our partnership strategy with Microsoft, showing our commitment to ongoing digital transformation.” “From the $250 million agreement we announced in 2020 to the $1.1 billion agreement we have today, our partnership with Microsoft has grown exponentially.”
The agreement comes after Coca-Cola made a $250 million, five-year agreement in 2020 to utilize Microsoft’s business and cloud services.
Coca-Cola has moved all of its apps to Microsoft Azure, and the majority of significant independent bottling partners have done the same.
Coca-Cola, a leader in the usage of AI, has been experimenting with genAI for almost a year and has redesigned its supply chain, marketing, and production processes using Azure OpenAI Service.
