According to Reuters, Alphabet, the parent company of Google, is cautioning staff members about the proper use of AI, including Bard, the company’s in-house chatbot.
This is true even though the business has made large investments in technology. The story claims that Alphabet is especially worried about workers entering private information into chatbots. This is understandable, but it’s startling to alert staff members about technology that is actively marketed to consumers.
Put an end to the leaks
Businesses around are currently searching for strategies to guard against workers disclosing confidential information to chatbots.
Amazon sent a warning to staff members earlier this year about disclosing private information to OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Employees at Samsung allegedly leaked confidential company information to the chatbot in April, which led to their termination. Apple even prohibited the usage of ChatGPT and other AI-powered technologies due to concerns that employees would disclose sensitive information.
However, the secret is already known. According to a survey, as of February, nearly half of professionals were utilizing ChatGPT and other AI applications, despite these cautions.
According to Reuters, Google is already — conveniently — charging businesses for chatbot tools that it guarantees won’t expose customer data to any AI models that are visible to the public.
However, the business obviously still needs to make a lot of arguments. Politico reports that Microsoft was forced to postpone the debut of its Bard chatbot in the European Union this week due to privacy concerns raised by regulators, adding to the significant obstacles it is already facing in the global distribution of the technology.
