Artificial Intelligence (AI) MTech degree will be offered by Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (IIT KGP) commenced May 1. Under the auspices of the DST, Government of India’s National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS), IIT Kharagpur has introduced this new course.
There are four semesters in the new MTech program at IIT Kharagpur. During the first two semesters, 10 theory courses—four of which are required—are offered in order to lay a solid basis. Six electives are available for selection from the list of courses provided by the IIT Kharagpur Center of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence and a few other departments. Project work and internships take up the remaining two semesters.
Course information
Along with lab courses in machine learning, data engineering, and deep learning, the MTech program offers theory courses in foundations of machine learning, Algorithmic and Mathematical Foundations of Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning Foundations and Applications, and Artificial Intelligence Foundations and Applications.
The program’s elective courses include Artificial Intelligence for Manufacturing, Artificial Intelligence for Economics, Statistical Foundations of AI/ML, Linear Algebra for AI/ML, and Machine Learning for Earth System Sciences; Big Data Processing; Secure and Reliable AI/ML; Knowledge Modeling and Semantic Web Technologies; Advanced Learning Paradigms in AI and Artificial Intelligence for Cyber-Physical Systems, etc. Graph Machine Learning: Foundations and Applications; Visual Computing with AI/ML; Interpretable Machine Learning; AI/ML for Robot Autonomy; Graphical and Generative Models for Machine Learning.
