For users in 11 more nations, including Croatia, France, Albania, Germany, Ireland, Jamaica, Korea, Nicaragua, and the UK, OpenAI’s ChatGPT has made its iOS app available, but India is still on the waiting list.
The software, which was first released on May 18 in the US, will soon be accessible in more nations, the startup’s CTO, Mira Murati of California, announced in a tweet. There isn’t a ChatGPT app for Android devices right now.
Generic AI ChatGPT, which was released as a public web version late last year, has garnered enormous popularity throughout the world, notably in India. In March of this year, OpenAI also introduced the paid membership service ChatGPT Plus in India.
Users who subscribe to ChatGPT Plus have priority access to new features and improvements as well as general access to the AI chatbot ChatGPT. ChatGPT has applications in a variety of fields, including assisting with code writing and essay composition.
A greater emphasis has been placed on utilising AI technology across sectors in the country as ChatGPT’s popularity has grown. In order to strengthen the nation’s AI ecosystem, the Indian government has made a number of announcements.
Additionally, Writesonic, an Indian firm, asserted that it created a chatbot service similar to ChatGPT before OpenAI’s ChatGPT debuted.
The Indian government is also developing a ChatGPT-like chatbot helpline as a means for handling complaints that will allow users to communicate via audio messages in a variety of Indian languages.
Only Hindi is now supported by OpenAI’s ChatGPT among the Indian languages, in addition to English. However, compared to English, Hindi is less proficient.
In the meantime, OpenAI has already begun to feel the effects of global policies that are becoming more stringent. Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, has stated that ChatGPT may think about leaving Europe if it does not adhere to the planned EU AI Act because he feels that it would be “over-regulating.”
In addition to expanding its ChatGPT services internationally, OpeaAI has introduced the OpenAI Startup Fund to support AI startups. According to the most recent regulatory filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), it raised $170 million for the investment fund.
A visit to New Delhi in May or June, during which Altman will engage with policymakers, was also announced.
