According to the recently announced Network Readiness Index 2022, India ranks first in the world for AI talent concentration and 61st overall. In the most recent iteration of 2022, India has moved up six positions. The survey rates 131 economies, which together produce about 95% of the world’s gross domestic product (GDP). As the most network-ready society, the United States surpasses the Netherlands, which is ranked fourth.
The Portulans Institute and Sad Business School at the University of Oxford jointly publish this year’s report, which is titled “Stepping into the new digital era: how and why digital natives will influence the world.”
Singapore, which came in second in this year’s ranking after rising from seventh place, made the biggest increase, knocking Finland and Denmark out of the top 5. Sweden, Switzerland, Germany, Korea Republic, Norway, and Switzerland are the remaining five nations in the top ten (10th).
The ranking is based on each nation’s performance across 58 different characteristics in the areas of technology, people, governance, and effect. The advanced economies of North America, some regions of Asia and the Pacific, and Europe are among the most network-ready societies in the globe, according to NRI 2022.
India’s score increased from 49.74 in 2021 to 51.19 in 2022, along with its ranking. Additionally, the nation ranked first in the concentration of AI talent, second in the volume of international internet traffic and mobile broadband traffic within the nation, third in the size of the domestic telecommunications market, fourth in the export of ICT services, and fifth in publications citing AI research.
According to the survey, given its income level, India has a higher level of network readiness than was anticipated. In all pillars and sub-pillars, the country outperforms the average for its income group.
