The assertion that India is emerging as the next AI superpower is not unjustified. Not only do many companies use AI to address problems that are unique to India, but the government has also made significant efforts to further position India as a potential AI leader.
India was ranked eighth among the top 10 countries by AI patent families globally despite not having submitted any AI-related patents prior to 2002. A Nasscom research states that over 4,000 artificial intelligence (AI) patent applications were made in India during the course of the preceding five years, which is more than six times the number that were made between 2011 and 2015.
In January 2020, NITI Aayog introduced AIRAWAT, a potent AI infrastructure that is a cloud computing infrastructure for India that is largely focused on providing AI-specific services. This announcement was made as part of their strategy to develop the infrastructure. There is little question that AI and automation will revolutionise business interactions with customers, healthcare, and education in the upcoming technological era. It won’t be long before it is obvious that AI has taken over on a worldwide scale.
