Under the Amazon Future Engineer (AFE) program, about 100 Karnataka Residential Educational Institutions Society (KREIS) schools will receive advanced coding and artificial intelligence (AI) module training. Additionally, 30 KREIS schools will receive digital infrastructure from Amazon, affecting over 13,000 students in Classes 6–8 across 30 districts.
The 20-hour session is made with the students’ present level of experience to coding and computer science in mind. Students in classes 7 and 8 will be introduced to advanced programming and the foundations of artificial intelligence, while students in class 6 will learn the principles of block programming. This program will be an addition to the coding, logical sequencing, learning loops, and block programming classes that KREIS schools now provide.
Manivannan P., Principal Secretary, Social Welfare Department, stated, “The Amazon Future Engineer program’s integration of advanced coding and AI modules aligns seamlessly with our vision to empower our students with the proficiency required to navigate the increasingly tech-centric world.” The fascinating curriculum’s add-on courses will promote project-based learning and provide an overview of AI’s fundamentals along with a deeper comprehension of its applicability.
This project is being carried out in partnership with the Learning Links Foundation (LLF), which will provide students with grade-appropriate coding boot camps and introductory coding sessions, enabling computer science to be taught in remote school districts. LLF will collaborate with educators to offer resources and professional assistance to instructors in order to promote successful learning.
“This project-based learning module will equip students with the information and abilities need to succeed in a world driven by technology. David Zapolsky, Senior VP, Global Public Policy and General Counsel at Amazon, stated, “Amazon is committed to democratizing access to high-quality computer science education.”
