An integrated web gateway for the nation’s educational institutions was launched on Thursday by S Krishnan, the secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
Additionally, Secretary Krishnan met with officers and employees to mark the opening of ERNET India’s new conference hall.
Educational institutions will be able to access value-added services like Website as a Service (WaaS) and Learning Management as a Service (LMaaS) through the portal called ERNET, along with domain registration and DNS. “Users can create their own website and Learning Management System by choosing from the variety of available templates for schools, colleges, and universities based on their requirements,” the ministry stated.
It further stated, “With just one click, users can customize the template and publish the website and LMS.”
The announcement went on to say that open-source software and cutting-edge technologies like AI and ML were used in the development of the portal.
Under MeitY, ERNET India is a non-profit scientific society. It serves as the sole domain registrant for all research and education institutions with the domain names res.in, edu.in, and ac.in. Additionally, it offers smart classrooms, campus Wi-Fi, web accessibility, and connectivity via satellite- and terrestrial-based systems to the nation’s research and educational institutions. The IT Ministry added, “It is also in the field of establishing data centers.”
