The Advanced Electronics Materials Laboratory at the Centre for Materials for Electronics Technology (C-MET) in Thrissur has been officially opened by Shri Alkesh Kumar Sharma IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
Addressing the event, Sharma emphasized the value of focusing research and development (R&D) on societal needs as well as government initiatives to increase electronic manufacturing in the nation. To create electronic gadgets and components for prospective applications, advanced materials are essential. In keeping with the government’s Atmarnirbharata goal, the new facility will contribute to improving C-skills METs in translational research on electronic materials, components, and devices for creating products that are ready for the market.
MeitY hosts the Center for Materials for Electronics Technologies (C-MET), an independent scientific society. Sensors and actuators are one of the main focus areas of C-MET, Thrissur. Together with IIITMK and commercial partners, C-MET has established a Center of Excellence (CoE) in Intelligent IoT sensors. The CoE is concentrated on the creation of novel goods and services that are tailored to meet the demands of the market. C-MET has created several Internet of Things (IoT) sensor-based solutions that are anticipated to help Indian enterprises become independent in the global sensor industry.
