On Wednesday, the government told Lok Sabha that the Union Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievance and Pension uses AI to prevent corruption. While replying to a question in the house, Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievance and Pension Jitendra Singh stated that with the use of AI, it is possible to analyze a pension and see if there is “something more” in it than what has been stated by the pensioner.
In his statement, Minister Jitendra Singh also remarked that AI can “read in between lines”. The minister highlighted his points as a reply to the lower house during the question hour. He remarked that Artificial Intelligence is widely used in various areas. Emphasizing the power of AI, he mentioned that the ministry of personnel is using it to prevent corruption.
“If the petition comes, what is there in between the lines can be read through the help of Artificial Intelligence to see if there is something more in it than what has been stated (by the pensioner)”, he added.
Defence, Education and several other ministries have already started utilizing AI for effective governance. AI is a tool for administration used by state governments as well. Earlier this year, Minister Nitin Gadkari stated that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways would be using AI to improve road safety.
