Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the minister of state for electronics and IT, stated on Wednesday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a hope that entrepreneurs in new and emerging technologies should now originate from Tier 2 and 3 cities. This is in response to the boom in artificial intelligence (AI) companies in India. He stated at an event held here that the Indian innovation and startup ecosystem is experiencing exciting times right now.
“India has witnessed immense innovation and the emergence of over 100 unicorns (valuing $1 billion and above) in the domestic startup ecosystem under PM Modi’s administration,” the minister declared at the iMPEL-AI (iCreate-Microsoft program for Emerging Leaders in Artificial Intelligence) launch here.
He went on to say that industries like artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, Web 3.0, and high-performance computing will produce the nation’s next generation of entrepreneurs.
“The government is totally committed to supporting the next generation of innovation, and it is PM Modi’s dream that startups in new and emerging technologies should originate from Tier 2 and 3 cities,” Chandrasekhar stated.
With the introduction of iMPEL-AI, India’s ambitious aim to become a worldwide leader in AI will gain even more momentum. The combined AI innovation program was announced by Microsoft India, iCreate (International Centre for Entrepreneurship and Technology), and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). India’s top organization for turning tech-driven startups into profitable ventures is iCreate.
iCreate, which was founded in 2012, receives funding from the Center and the Gujarati government to promote entrepreneurship among the next generation. Artificial intelligence (AI) has taken the globe by storm. In India, social impact entrepreneurs have developed datasets in many Indian languages for research and training AI models, all the while generating employment, mostly in rural regions.
