An open rival to ChatGPT is being developed by Stability AI, a startup that has already created an open-sourced powerful image-generation technology. The CEO of Stability, Emad Mostaque, states that the release is still a few months away. Anthropic, Cohere, and AI21 are just a few of the rival startups developing their own, private versions of OpenAI’s bot.
The impending influx of smart chatbots will increase the availability and visibility of the technology for customers as well as make it easier for businesses, developers, and academics to work with it. That might hasten the rush to capitalize on AI systems that produce text, code, and graphics.
Many startups are working feverishly to build on top of a new ChatGPT API for developers as well as well-known corporations like Microsoft and Slack are integrating ChatGPT into their businesses.
