TVS Motors and Swiggy have signed an MoU with an aim to increase the share of EVs in Swiggy’s food delivery and other on-demand services.
- Will test the implementation of TVS EVs for deliveries
- Agreement also includes working on a need-specific product
TVS is doubling down on its commitment towards electric vehicles. With its iQube electric scooter already on sale in 33 cities across India, the company has now signed an MoU with Swiggy to increase the share of EVs in the latter’s delivery fleet.
As part of the agreement, the companies will test the implementation of TVS’ EVs for food delivery and other on-demand services. Since the iQube is the only TVS EV available at the moment, presumably the operation will start off with that.
But the agreement also includes working on a need-specific product, hinting that TVS could develop an e-scooter specifically targeted at the B2B market. Indeed, a rather utilitarian-looking TVS e-scooter was spotted testing recently, featuring a luggage rack in place of a rear seat. Perhaps it could be the manifestation of this agreement.
Swiggy has committed to make deliveries spanning 8,00,000km per day through EVs by 2025, and this agreement should help it take the first few small steps towards this ambitious goal.
The TVS iQube is powered by a 4.4kW motor fed by a 2.25kWh battery pack, which allow it an indicated top speed of 80kph and a claimed range of 75km. To find out how much range we actually managed on a full charge, check out our detailed road test review here.
