The average number of learning hours per person at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) increased significantly in FY24 as the company worked to create one of the largest AI-ready workforces in the world. The IT behemoth revealed that learning hours have increased, with an average increase to 87.1 hours from 82.4 hours in the prior fiscal year.
It is noteworthy that this rise in learning hours was seen by personnel at every level, including junior, mid-level, and senior. According to TCS’s annual report for FY24, senior female employees continued to surpass their male colleagues in terms of learning hours for a fourth year in a row.
Notably, Tata Consultancy Services demonstrated its dedication to innovation and technology by tripling the amount of generative AI projects it was working on, to a total of $900 million. The organization also placed a strong emphasis on developing its own people, as seen by the 33% of job needs that were satisfied through cross- and up-skilling programs.
There was a noticeable decrease in the proportion of workers under 30 years old, even though the percentage of workers over 50 years old increased slightly. In FY24, TCS recorded an astounding 51 million hours of learning, gaining almost 5 million skills.
TCS’s CEO and Managing Director, K Krithivasan, emphasized the company’s innovative and lifelong learning culture and established TCS as the top employer in the world for 32 nations for the ninth year in a row.
Over 423,000 employees were covered by Tata Consultancy Services Elevate, the company’s initiative that links education to career advancement and incentive; of them, over 35,200 were recognized as high potential and received pay increases.
In general, TCS’s emphasis on developing talent and improving learning opportunities highlights its dedication to building a knowledgeable and flexible workforce prepared for the demands of the digital world of the future.
