Lucknow: Telemedicine can be a vital tool in the development of robotic surgery facilities in remote places in the near future, said experts at a lecture ‘current status of robotics in surgery’ organised by the surgical gastroenterology department of KGMU on Wednesday. “With the use of telemedicine, specialists using advanced technology can help promote and teach robotic surgery in any corner of the world,” said Dr Sanjiv Patankar of University Medical Centre of Princeton, US.
Prof Abhijit Chandra, head of surgical gastroenterology, said, “Robotic surgery has two key advantages: 3D imaging and complete 360-degree human hand movement for better precision during surgery.”
