Following the presidential summit on gender-based violence that took place in November, the Shout-It-Now organisation has introduced a WhatsApp Chatbot known as “Chomi.”
The mission statement of the organisation that does not seek financial gain states that the development of the chatbot is to make it easier to prevent GBV on a national scale.
According to Zonja Penzhorn, who works for the organization, the ‘Chomi’ app delivers and spreads vital information about Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and provides survivors with options.
She assures me that it is a secure location and that everything will remain confidential.
“You will have access to information streams, emergency assistance, facts about GBV, reporting the violence, what to do if you have been raped, what to do if you have been sexually assaulted, counselling support, legal assistance, safety planning, woman shelters, and the ability to connect you to support services.”
The number to contact them on WhatsApp is 082 229 6251.
