Google is granting Google Photos users all across the world access to an extensive range of AI-powered photo editing features. A collection of state-of-the-art tools including Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur, Portrait Light, and Magic Editor will be freely accessible to all users starting in May. Let’s examine the capabilities of these instruments.
Photo Unblur
You reach for your camera with the hopes of capturing a wonderful moment, but all you get is a grainy, unsatisfactory picture. By using AI magic to improve blurry photographs intelligently, Photo Unblur seeks to save those potential keepers. It can recognize and improve fuzzy areas automatically thanks to machine learning.
Open the Google Photos app, select a photo, and click the edit icon to utilize Photo Unblur.
To change the intensity, move the slider after selecting Unblur from the top menu.
Once completed, select Save copy.
Magic Eraser
Pesky backdrop distractions, such as photobombers or errant trash cans, can spoil an otherwise excellent photo. Magic Eraser uses artificial intelligence (AI) to erase unwanted items with a simple tap.
Open Google Photos, choose the picture containing the undesirable object, and click the Edit icon to utilize Magic Eraser.
Select Magic Eraser from the Tools menu.
Choose Erase.
To save the image and get rid of the suggested distractions, click Erase all.
Portrait Lighting
For mobile photographers, portrait mode has changed everything by replicating the desired shallow depth-of-field effect. With Portrait Light, however, Google is going one step further by giving your subjects flattering, studio-caliber lighting. Even the direction and intensity can be precisely adjusted to suit your preferences.
Open the Google Photos app, choose the photo you wish to alter, and then choose Portrait Light.
Choose Tools
Choose a portrait light source.
To adjust the direction of the light source, move the dot.
Adjust the light intensity with the slider.
Magic Editor
Finally, Magic Editor offers sophisticated editing features with an incredibly user-friendly interface. With a few clicks, you can perform intricate adjustments such as repositioning subjects, changing the sky, and more, all made possible by the robust generative AI models beneath the hood.
To choose a portion of your photo with Magic Editor, tap, draw a circle around it, or use a brush.
Apply the modification
Repeat steps 1-2 if you wish to continue editing your shot.
Accessible
Google is now making many of these AI editing tips available to all Google Photos users on Android and iOS, even though they were previously Pixel-only benefits. The capabilities will be made available to compatible devices starting on May 15 and will be rolled out over the next few weeks.
The hitch is that Magic Editor will have certain restrictions for those who do not possess Pixels, even if the core editing capabilities will remain free for everyone. More specifically, the monthly limit for Magic Editor “saves” for free users is 10. You’ll need a Pixel device or a Premium Google One plan with 2TB or more if you want to go beyond that.
