“I realised the potential of video AI during my doctoral research at Carnegie Mellon University in the US on developing an OS (operating system) for network embedded systems and grew confident about democratising access to this technology,” says Gupta, founder and CEO of Awiros. “A customer can discover and source video analytics solutions easily.”
The path of Awiros was then accelerated by Gupta’s collaboration with Yatin Kavishwar, who had prior expertise developing and implementing GTM strategies for Tier 1 and IT organisations. Developers can create their applications on the platform, which is an operating system (OS) comparable to those found on mobile phones. According to Gupta, they have 90 to 95 percent of the building blocks ready and simply need to add their modules to create apps that can be paid for. This reduces the time to market by 50 to 70 percent.
Awiros asserts that it has currently installed its solutions over 50,000 cameras in more than 14 smart and secure towns around the nation. The AwirosAppStack already has more than 60 ready-to-use commercially deployed apps, according to the business.
Despite a difficult investment environment, Awiros was one of the few deep tech businesses to raise money in the second half of 2022, according to Gupta. To speed up growth and global expansion, the business raised $7 million in Series A funding last month, with Inflexor and Exfinity serving as the lead investors.
Few VCs support such deeptech startups, according to Gupta, who gives credit to the investors at Inflexor and Exfinity for having faith in the company’s mission and ability to carry it out. “As the adoption is still at a nascent stage and requires significant investment in industrial R&D and global GTM,” he says.
He is confident about a rise in market sentiment for the AI business following the pandemic’s protracted negative effects. In fact, some predictions indicate that the global market for video AI analytics would grow from $7.1 billion in 2022 to more than $20 billion by 2027.
“Because we have created a comprehensive platform and marketplace for video AI apps, Awiros sets itself apart from other participants in the video AI market. Users and developers can both deploy various applications from our marketplace based on their own needs. As a result, we provide more solutions that are scalable and feature-rich rather than just being a single application service provider “He continues by describing the USP of the business.
The ambitious goal of Awiros is to establish itself as the standard entry point for businesses to learn about, use, and scale up video AI. The business intends to grow in North America, the Middle East, and South East Asia. Additionally, it aims to establish a marketplace with more than 1,000 applications that serve a variety of additional business sectors.
The potential of video AI is enormous, and Gupta asserts that India is now in a good position to become a global success story.
