The Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre (IN-SPACe) and cloud computing giant Amazon Web Services (AWS) have signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding to support space-tech innovations. This was announced by the company on Wednesday.
“Cloud computing-led innovations enable the space industry to make better decisions, faster – pushing the boundaries of possibilities,” said Shalini Kapoor, Director and Chief Technologist, Public Sector, AWS India and South Asia. “AWS is committed to helping startups identify use cases accelerate solution development, and build a strong talent pool in India with expertise in cloud and space,” she added. We are excited to work with Indian clients to develop space technology solutions that would improve Earthly existence.
According to the business, this partnership will provide students, research institutions, and start-ups in the space industry access to cutting-edge cloud technologies that will hasten the creation of innovative solutions for the space industry.
As the Indian government concentrates on enhancing and bolstering the nation’s capabilities in the aerospace and satellite industries, Kapoor from AWS continued, “We are at a crucial point in India’s space adventure.
Adding to this, Sudheer Kumar N, Director of Capacity Building and Public Outreach at ISRO, stated that “advancing innovation in the space sector is a top priority for our nation as geospatial solutions have the power to deliver high-quality services for the good governance for citizens and add value to the stakeholders.”
In a press statement, AWS stated that cloud computing would make it possible to quickly manage enormous volumes of raw space data in addition to running AI, ML, and analytics workloads to produce valuable results in a very efficient manner.
Additionally, they emphasized in their joint statement that ISRO, IN-SPACe, and AWS will collaborate to support and expand the startup ecosystem in the space-tech industry. Through the AWS Activate program, AWS will offer qualified space entrepreneurs tools, resources, and expert technical assistance free of charge to help them develop new solutions and accelerate their commercialization. Through the AWS Space Accelerator program, startups will also gain access to AWS and its extensive experience building aerospace and satellite products globally.
After the Chandrayaan-3 moon landing and the Aditya L-1 mission, Vinod Kumar, Director, of the Promotion Directorate, IN-SPACe, emphasized this and said, “It is time we exploit the boundless potential of space technology and cloud computing to catapult India’s space sector to new heights.
