Government representatives get together for the “National Stakeholder Workshop on Ethics of AI” to talk about incorporating moral issues into AI plans and making sure they are in line with global norms and the public good. This program encourages the equitable and sustainable adoption of AI across the country by supporting India’s efforts to establish strong frameworks for ethical AI development and application in important industries.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has great promise in helping to realize the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). But this potential comes with hazards, both practical and ethical, which can increase if AI is used without appropriate ethical frameworks. UNESCO wants to help the Indian government assess and strengthen the institutions, laws, and policies currently in place regarding AI in order to address this. Through this initiative, the UNESCO Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence would be adhered to in terms of values and principles when it comes to AI application in India.
UNESCO and the Indian government will use the AI readiness assessment methodology (RAM) to carry out a thorough needs assessment. The results of this assessment will inform the co-design of strategic AI frameworks and lay the institutional and regulatory foundation for the ethical advancement and use of AI in important policy domains like gender equality, the environment, education, and labor.
One of the focal points of this endeavor is the National Stakeholder Workshop on the Ethics of AI. It seeks to bring together state and federal government representatives for a comprehensive discussion on the social and ethical ramifications of AI technologies. The event aims to facilitate critical discourse and incorporate ethical considerations into AI policies and programs implemented at the national and state levels. This strategy makes sure that the application of AI is in line with global norms and standards as well as the interests of the general public.
The goal of the workshop is to prepare participants for the opportunities and difficulties presented by artificial intelligence (AI) and to build a communal knowledge of those challenges. It will ensure that AI technologies are applied in ways that benefit society by promoting fair and sustainable adoption of AI throughout India.
