The administration of Prime Minister Fumio Kishida made the decision to submit a new bill to carry out the change, moving Japan closer to granting venture capital firms and other investment funds direct authority over digital assets. A statement on the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry’s website states that on February 16, his cabinet accepted the phrasing of a bill intended to slightly amend the country’s Industrial Competitiveness Enhancement Act. The law states that “measures will be taken to add crypto assets to the list of assets that can be acquired and held by investment limited partnerships,” referring to a method by which venture capital firms obtain money for investments.
