Given that both companies are among the best employers of women in the country, it comes down to Samsung vs. TCS when deciding which is the best option for female AI developers.
According to the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report, women only make up 32%, 20%, and 14% of the workforce overall in data and AI, engineering, and cloud computing, respectively. Young, talented women are routinely dissuaded from enrolling in STEM-related programmes of study. It’s a great way to encourage young girls to pursue careers in this industry to read about women who have overcome obstacles and taken on challenging roles like data scientists, female AI engineers in 2023, and machine learning engineers. When it comes to recruiting women without any gender bias within the company, Samsung and TCS are the greatest employers.
Samsung
In order to support its R&D facilities, which include Samsung R&D Institutes in Bangalore, Noida, Delhi, and Bengaluru as well as Samsung Semiconductor India Research, the country’s largest manufacturer of consumer electronics, Samsung, wants to hire over 1,000 experts.
Beginning in 2023, these young engineers will focus on cutting-edge technologies like System on a Chip (SoC), Communication Networks, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Image Processing, Internet of Things (IoT), Connectivity, Cloud, Big Data, Business Intelligence, Predictive Analysis, and Storage Solutions.
Samsung will seek engineers from a range of disciplines, including computer science, electronics, information technology, instrumentation, embedded systems, and related departments (AI/ML/Computer Vision/VLSI, etc.). It will also be hiring people in disciplines like software engineering and math & computing.
According to Sameer Wadhwan, head of human resources at Samsung India, “Samsung’s R&D centres want to hire new talent from India’s top engineering institutes who will work on ground-breaking innovations, technologies, products, and designs, including India-centric innovations that enrich people’s lives.” The company’s objective of “Powering Digital India” will be furthered through this.
During this hiring season, Samsung R&D centres will hire over 200 engineers from prestigious IITs, including IIT Madras, IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Bombay, IIT Roorkee, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Guwahati, and IIT BHU. They have also extended more than 400 Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) to students at top institutes like the IITs.
Samsung research centres in India have submitted over 7,500 patent applications on a variety of subjects, including multi-camera systems, TVs, digital apps, 5G and 6G networks, and ultra-wideband wireless communication protocol. Numerous of these patents have been used in items including, but not limited to, Samsung’s flagship Galaxy smartphones, wearable technology, networking gear, and software.
Over time, a solid culture of filing patents has emerged at the Samsung R&D centres in India. At the Samsung R&D Institute in Bangalore, for example, a large proportion of patent applicants are first-time innovators in cutting-edge industries including 5G, AI, ML, IoT, and camera & vision technologies. As a result, the R&D centre has surpassed all other entities to file the most patents for inventions that originated in India. The National IP Award for 2021 and 2022 was also given to it.
